| MOUNTAIN VIEW IS PLAYING WELL THROUGH THE CONFERENCE MIDWAY POINT
After losing to Sisters at home in early January, the Cougars have rallied well and are out to a 6-0 start in conference play. Mountain View currently stands at 13-4 (6-0 IMC) and at number one in the state according to the OSAA RPI. The Cougs' next game is this Friday (1/27) at Summit HS in a classic East-West battle for the city. Senior swingman Cody Hollister says, "We are playing well right now, and with all of the football players finally getting into a rhythm, we keep getting better as a team. I think we still have a ways to go before were at where we want to be, but with the competitive bunch of guys we have, the sky's the limit." The game at Summit HS this Friday (1/27) tips off after the girls Varisty game which is at 5:30 pm. We hope to see you there! COUGS WIN CONSOLATION CHAMPIONSHIP AT SUMMIT HOLIDAY INVITATIONAL After a disappointing loss to West Albany HS in the first round of the Summit Holiday Invitational, the Cougars bounced back with two wins to take the consolation bracket title. Mountain View beat Ashland HS by a count of 82-59 behind a 39 point 11 assist double-double from Senior point guard James Reid. The Cougs then went on the following morning (12/30) to play even with Sandy HS before standing out in the end, 57-48. Mountain View is currently ranked second by the OSAA RPI standings, and travels to Redmond HS on Tuesday (1/3) at 7:00 pm to continue conference play against the 6A rival Panthers. MOUNTAIN VIEW PLAYS GREAT IN VANCOUVER AND PORTLAND Mountain View went up to play Evergreen HS this past weekend on a two-game slide. At the time, Evergreen was ranked 2nd in Washington's 4A division, which is the largest in Washington. The Plainsmen also boast 6-11 big man Caleb Dressler, who has signed to play at the University of Hawaii next season. Led early by James Reid, and late by Mitch Modin, the Cougars cruised to a 67-50 victory. The following day, Mountain View drove down to Portland to play the PIL's Roosevelt HS, and came away on top again. This time by a margin of what was more than 30 points for most of the game. Mountain View hosts Crook County HS on Tuesday (12/20) in their conference opener. COUGS STRUGGLE DOWN SOUTH After defeating Madras Tuesday night (12/6) 71-55, Mountain View headed south to play at South and North Medford this past weekend (12/9,10). Plagued by foul trouble, among other factors, both nights, the Cougars lost to South 61-73 and North 61-70. Guards Mitch Modin (13) and James Reid (11) led the way, but the Cougs came up a little short. "The View" heads up to Vancouver, WA this Friday (12/16) to play Evergreen HS who return 6-11 big man Caleb Dressler. The following day (12/17) the Cougs play a tough PIL team in Roosevelt HS. COUGS KICK OFF SEASON WITH TWO WINS Mountain View began their 2011-12 campaign this past Friday night (12/2) and Saturday morning (12/3) with two non-conference victories. They outplayed Grants Pass Friday to a 74-56 outcome. The Cougars were led by Senior guard James Reid (11), with 32 points and 8 assists. Sophomore wing Grant Lannin (22) added 13 points and 6 boards in his debut as a Varsity Starter. On Saturday, the Cougs withstood a late rally from the Eagle Point Eagles to win 80-77. Reid led the way with 26 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists. Junior Mitch Modin (13) contributed 21 points and 5 boards himself. Mountain View played most of Friday and all of Saturday without returning All-Conference post, Blake Bosch (44) due to an ankle injury. They were also missing six players for both games because of the football team, see 'Breaking News'. "The View" hosts Madras High School this upcoming Tuesday (12/6) at 7:00 pm. NEW SEASON ABOUT TO BE UNDERWAY With a somewhat disappointing end to last year's playoff run, the new Cougars are ready for the season to being.
